Before you begin...

Be sure to check out our article on Merging or Overriding Subject Data + Images if you already have existing subject data in the Job you're attempting to import into.

Where do I get started?

Click on the Tools drop-down in the Job you want to import data into and select Import.

Importing Data + Images

There are 3 different methods to import data and images into a Job:

  • Subject Data & Images
  • Replace Images
  • Auto-Categorize by Folder

When your method of choice is selected, an Importer Wizard will open and guide you through the steps. There is logic built-in to prevent you from proceeding too far until all necessary import settings are specified.

Importing Subject Data & Images

Choose the import type and select the file or folder path to upload.

Data File Import

The most common method. Specify if your data file contains headers by checking the Field Header Row checkbox. You can also specify the field delimiter (defaulted to comma for .csv files) and the field qualifier.

You can also specify if this import will merge with existing subject data and images already in the Job; and to overwrite the data if desired. Click the green continue button at the bottom to proceed.

Matching Columns to Subject Data

Blueprint will analyze the data and automatically map as many fields as possible. The most important field to map is the Unique Field(s) at the top. Any data mapped to this section instructs Blueprint to only create a new Subject for each unique value.

Pro Tip: Map a guaranteed Unique Field to have Blueprint only create a subject for each unique value in the data file column.

The amount of data automatically mapped is found at the top, with the remaining unmapped columns on the left. The list will shrink as you map the remaining data to subject fields. You can map data to multiple subject data fields.

Map all fields as needed and click continue when finished.

Import Images

On the next screen, check the box if you plan to import images along with your Subject Data; otherwise click continue.

If you're importing images, select how the images are listed in your data file, which column in the data file contains the file names, and the folder that contains the images.

You're Ready to Import!

Now, you'll be at the Ready to Import! screen. You have the option to review what data you're importing from the Data File and which Subject Data it's being mapped to. Click on the edit button to jump back to the Subject Data Mapping step if needed.

When finished, click on the Import button to kick-off the import task.

Don't forget to Sync after confirming the data has been imported into the Job as desired!
